Names are important. They are the anchor through which we remember places, people, things and even feelings. When I first set out to start Henri Rose, I knew I wanted to name this venture something personal- something that told a story.
Powerful, graceful and strong women are the glue that pieces together the puzzle of my family. They've nursed the sick, prepared hot meals for the poor and managed to give more than enough cuddles and laughs to me and others before me.
Henri Rose seeks to empower female victims of trafficking through income generation; and what better name for our company than that of my two Grandmothers who are always quick to listen and even quicker with a laugh and a joke. Henrietta Ramsey and Lillian Rose were the conscious beginning of the beauty of the female spirit to me. They have pushed through the dark and danced in the light.
What better example for the women we are partnering with than this- that they too are strong, beautiful and worthy?
