Here at Henri Rose we don’t like to talk about ourselves all of the time. Today on the blog we want to take a moment to recognize some of the other social enterprises doing great things in the world. Here is a top five list (in no particular order) of our favorite fashion, health, and home décor social enterprises doing good. Check them out! You won’t be disappointed!

 

1.     Nisolo Shoes:

 

According to their website Nisolo means “not alone.” Meaning that as consumers we have to be socially aware about where our clothing is made. The choices we make about the clothes that we put on our body could make a huge difference in someone else’s life. 2.     Thistle Farms

 

Thistle Farms makes skincare products that are as good for the body as they are for the earth. Not only are their products all natural, Thistle Farms works with women who have survived trafficking, addiction, and life on the street by giving them a bed in their two year recovery program. Women of Thistle Farms work to get clean and heal from a lifetime of wounds while also learning the job skills they will need to sustain themselves after their two years at Thistle Farms is through. 3.     Red Earth

 

Inspired by the red dirt roads of rural Uganda Red Earth creates beautiful, ethical, and sustainable jewelry by partnering with local artisans in Uganda, Africa. Red Earth goes beyond jewelry making to help Ugandan locals by funding small loans that can be paid back over time. Through these loans homes have gotten new roofs, the workshop in which the artisans work has gotten new machinery, and other investments that would have been out of reach for locals had it not been for the support of Red Earth. FashionABLE is a fashion company creating  sustainable business in Africa. FashionABLE is dedicated to ending poverty in Africa by creating economic opportunities for women that simple charity would never be able to sustain.
